With painting, I process memory and longing through systems of organization. Using isometric projection as a framework, an architectural landscape is built from observation and invention. These spaces are then occupied by thoughts, people and objects in the form of symbolic characters, much like how a key is used on a map. This acts both as a notational system, to analyze the details of my own experience, and as a narrative device, used to develop a romanticized world that houses these patterns of thinking.
